The VP, Litigation will lead and manage all litigation matters for UOB (Thai) Public Company Limited, ensuring legal compliance and protecting the bank's interests across a diverse range of legal disputes.Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of litigation, including commercial disputes, regulatory actions, employment claims, and other legal proceedings involving the bank.
- Develop and implement effective litigation strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel.
- Supervise and direct external law firms, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality legal representation.
- Provide expert legal advice and guidance to senior management and business units on potential litigation risks and implications.
- Conduct thorough legal research, analysis, and due diligence related to ongoing and potential litigation.
- Prepare and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
- Represent the bank in court, arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution forums as required.
- Negotiate settlements and resolutions to minimize financial exposure and reputational risk.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations relevant to the banking industry and litigation, advising on necessary adjustments to bank policies and procedures.
- Manage litigation budgets and track expenses effectively.
- Develop and deliver training sessions on litigation avoidance and best practices to relevant departments.
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.) from a reputable university; Master's degree (LL.M.) is a plus.
- Admitted to practice law in Thailand.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in litigation, with a significant portion gained within the banking or financial services industry, or at a top-tier law firm specializing in financial sector litigation.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex litigation cases from inception to resolution.
- In-depth knowledge of Thai laws and regulations relevant to banking, finance, and commercial disputes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Thai and English.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
