- The Product Quality Engineer proactively participates in core team new product development activities to assure successful launch of products. This position is essential to build and maintain strategic relationships with FARO functional internal teams, manufactures and suppliers. The Product Quality Engineer reports and analyzes quality related metrics, including evaluating and controlling data sources. This position oversees product warranty and quality performance at the field and drive direct improvements with cross-functional product design team, suppliers and manufacturer. Product Quality Engineer engages in the product lifecycle development from end to end. Leads Cross-functional root cause analysis for problem resolution activities (8D corrective actions). Product Quality Engineer assists in conducting compliance audits and support functional leads in creating/editing compliance quality related standards and documents as necessary. Lastly, establishes positive communication, build working relationships and shows quality leadership and values across departments, companies, and international cultures.
- Basic Program Management skills (meeting management, action tracking, effective communication)
- Support activities in Product Development and Life Cycle processes including design controls, quality planning, risk assessments / analysis / management, quality reviews, approval of test methods, design and process verification and validation test plans and reports.
- Support activities such as DFMEA/PFMEA reviews, process control plans, design for manufacturing reviews, part trials, first article submissions and more.
- Ensure (NPI) New Product Introductions meet quality requirements through phase gate reviews.
- Establish a higher level of Product Quality Systems in the organization to improve and maintain the QA System throughout the product lifecycle.
- Lead continuous improvement and corrective action activities within the supply base using Statistical Process Control tools, Value Stream Mapping, Lean and Six Sigma approaches to drive cost-out and realize capability improvements.
- Support and Lead FARO manufacturing site for trial builds into production from quality perspective.
- Audit FARO and FARO manufacturer processes as necessary to assure effective manufacturing controls are maintained and meet Faro requirements.
- GD&T knowledge or experience preferred.
- Define and specify the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of company products.
- Collaborates addressing the Voice of the Customer feedback and formalize it to the respective functional teams for resolution.
- Understanding of Customer returns and Service Management environment.
- BS Degree in an Engineering discipline. (MS Degree preferred).
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Product Quality or Quality Engineering role.
- Manufacturing industry experience.
- Experience in manufacturing environment compliant with ISO 9001 and/or ISO 17025.
- Must be a self-driven individual that will thrive in a highly dynamic team environment.
- Effective interpersonal skills and strong communication skills. Must be able to develop and sustain relationships with key partners, internal and external customers.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, SPC and/or Six Sigma is desirable.
- Data Driven decision maker. Ability to analyze data trends and make recommendations based off the data.
- Ability to drive, lead and coordinate robust corrective actions with preventive occurrence focus on Zero defect culture.
- Ability to work with proactive tools (DFX, DFMEA, Control Plans, etc.) to assure development programs address risks to production.
- Experience & Flexibility dealing with global supply chain preferred.
- Experience with Customer Interference preferred but not required.
- Certified Auditor or Quality Professional (CQA/CQP) is a plus.
- Proficient to communicate verbally and written in English and Thai languages is required.
