We are an inclusive school that invites children from all backgrounds and abilities to participate in the educational offerings on our diverse campus.Founded in 1997 on an attractive, conveniently located site, with excellent facilities and access to local transportation. Today we have more than 2,000 students over a Primary School and High School campus, representing some 55 nationalities ranging from Foundation Stage to Year 13. Our state-of-the-art High School campus (next to Ekkamai BTS) opened in August 2017 giving our students the benefit of world-class teaching and facilities. As part of the NAE family of schools, we are delighted to be able to offer some unique collaborations with world-class establishments, including the Juilliard School of Performing Arts, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and UNICEF.Job DescriptionEnglish TeacherEnglish is a popular and well-established subject at St. Andrews and we are looking for an experienced teacher to join the team. Class sizes are small and the students are motivated and enthusiastic, enjoying a lively approach to the subject through a wide range of teaching and learning techniques and speaking and listening, reading and writing tasks. The ideal candidate will convey enthusiasm for the subject and contribute collaboratively in the continued development of the curriculum from Year 7 to Year 13.English is taught to all students throughout the High School, with Key Stage 3 schemes of work broadly based on the National Curriculum, adapted to reflect both our location in South East Asia and the international nature of our students, and leading to both English Language and Literature IGCSEs in Years 10 and 11. We aim, as far as possible, to include even students with significant EAL needs in this, though schemes of work for some groups may be adapted and some of these students may also take IGCSE English as a Second Language in Year 11.In Key Stage 5, all students must study two languages as part of the IB Diploma Programme, with most students taking either English Literature or Language and Literature at Higher or Standard Level, though some students study their First language and English Language B at Higher or Standard Level. This year the school is also piloting the new Language and Culture course.Previous experience teaching either English Literature or Language and Literature at IB would be advantageous. We would, however, also welcome applications from those newer to the teaching profession - St Andrews would be a great school to develop as a professional early in your career. At St Andrews, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, and have an excellent reputation for supporting children with special educational needs. Experience of teaching children with dyslexia, mild autism, ADHD etc. would be very good prior experience for a teacher wishing to join our team. Our Mission Statement commits us to meeting 'all the needs of the individual learner', and this applies equally to those students targeting the very highest grades at both IGCSE and IB.All English classrooms have data projectors and there is a strong commitment to integrating the teaching and use of ICT skills into all areas of the curriculum. As well as their teaching, all teachers are also expected to contribute positively to both the school's pastoral systems and the extra-curricular programme, offering an Extra-Curricular Activity that either supports or extends the students' learning in their subject area, or from another area of personal interest. The closing date for applications is Friday 26th April 2024. Please email recruitment@standrews.ac.th if you require any further information.Job ResponsibilitiesRequired Skills/AbilitiesPlease write the Required Skills/Abilities.St Andrews is committed to ensuring the safety of all our students, and expects all staff to share the same commitment (see our Child Protection Code of Conduct).
