Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage cargo operations, coordinating with terminals, carriers, port agents, and surveyors to ensure efficient import and export processes.
  • Review, validate, and process demurrage and detention claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements and tariffs.
  • Calculate demurrage and detention charges accurately based on agreed terms, tariffs, and operational conditions.
  • Negotiate with shipping companies, suppliers, and customers to resolve disputes related to demurrage, detention, or operational issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of demurrage claims, contracts, and maritime documentation (e.g., vessel clearance, discharge orders), ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Generate detailed reports on demurrage costs, claim resolutions, and operational trends, offering actionable recommendations for process enhancements.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding demurrage claims to ensure timely resolution and payment.
  • Act as a key liaison between internal teams (logistics, finance, operations) and external parties (carriers, port authorities, agents) to resolve demurrage and operational challenges.
  • Develop strategies to minimize demurrage and detention costs through proactive planning and stakeholder communication.
  • Negotiate demurrage terms and operational agreements with shipping lines and terminal operators to secure favorable terms.
  • Conduct risk assessments for marine operations and demurrage claims, providing expert analysis to reduce financial and operational exposure.
  • Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to streamline cargo dwell times and enhance overall marine operation efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or demurrage claim management, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate technical and operational data effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate as a team player.
  • Proficient in negotiation and dispute resolution related to demurrage, detention, and marine operations.
  • Familiarity with maritime documentation and regulatory compliance (e.g., port or maritime regulations).
  • Loyal, honest, and maintains high integrity.
